Dana Swedo Bernal’s work has a sculptural presence on the wall. The substantial depth of her canvas, and deeply textured surface suggests ceramic, rock, and metal. Surprisingly, these objects are suitable for hanging on traditional walls with standard picture hanging hardware.
My mixed media paintings are made of materials that include stucco, acrylic paint, oil paint, found objects and photo transfers. Some of my paintings have female subjects incorporated in them, giving a romantic quality to the surface.
My studio is within the Hobbs Building; West bottoms of Kansas City, MO. This 7 story building is dedicated to artists, one catering company, and an herb and spice distributor. Biannual shows have been a part of its purpose for several years, inviting the public to experience this unique atmosphere.
